When I sit back and consider the significant events in my past, the important aspects of my current life, and my future goals, the underlying theme is one of appreciating diversity, especially across ethnic and socioeconomic class lines.
I was born in Ranchi, Jharkhand and raised in Pune, Maharashtra, a product of Kayastha parents with roots in the ancient city of Pataliputra.I have an elder sister who accidentally happens to share her birthday with the date on which the WTO collapsed – Sept 11th.
My planned field of study varied a good deal in my younger years, and between the ages of twelve and seventeen, I seriously flirted, in turn, with Biology, Mathematics, and Physics, before settling for the eccentric charms of Media studies.
Very academic oriented, I always wanted to pursue Engineering but was asked by my parents to touch a new dimension by joining SIMC. In a family filled with doctors and Engineers, I was promised luring subsidies if I decided to take up a completely new field of study. The decision making process was perplexing (especially because of the incentives being offered), yet eye-opening, as I had to do a thorough research about the scope of a career in media and communication. Towards the end of the research I became conscious of the plethora of career opportunities available in this field as compared to the conventional fields. Since I always had an inclination towards writing (poetry and short stories) and reading, I had an absolute advantage while appearing for SET. Of the two alternatives that I had for my career, destiny zeroed in on ‘Symbiosis’.
My past two years in SIMC has been a very enjoyable experience, satisfying all of my intellectual and social needs. Here the emphasis is on fostering curiosity rather than competitive excellence. I am specializing in Public Relations & Corporate Communications, a fundamental trade-off between prominence & economic security and relaxation.
I aspire to seek employment in the Corporate Communications department of a Multinational corporation (MNC) like Volkswagen or Mercedes where I can optimize my utility in order to maximize the company’s productivity. In the later years of my life when I have managed to collect enough resources and assets for my sustenance and my standard of living is in equilibrium with opulence, I will dedicate my services to a humanitarian organization working for the upliftment of the underprivileged.
And that’s all about my life economically ordinary....
